This Parish was once a sub-station to the Parish of Covelong (Kovalam). When
Fr. K.M. Joseph was the Parish Priest of Covelong, he had purchased the land for the church and constructed a small thatched shed for the chapel. In 1989 when
Fr. P.K. Mathew was the Parish Priest of Covelong, the Servite Fathers who were at that time residing at Perungudi running a formation house were invited to help the people for their spiritual needs. The Servite Fathers shifted their formation house in 1990 to Okkiampet. Seeing the fast improvement of the area, the then Archbishop requested the Servite Fathers to make a study of the place and to erect it as a quasi Parish. On the feast of St. Thomas, the Apostle on 3rd of July 1998, the Sholinganallur Parish was entrusted to the Servite Fathers. On February 2nd in the Jubilee year 2000, a new church was dedicated to Infant Jesus.
